Harvestworksは、1977年設立のニューヨーク最古のメディアアートセンター。設立当時からディレクターを務める、キャロル・パーキンソンが来日。70年代フルクサスから初期 NYC Max User Group、そして現在にいたるまでの、ニューヨークにおけるメディア/サウンド・アートコミュニティについて語ります。モデレーターは、2023年にレジデンスを行ったすずえりが務めます。
Harvestworks, founded in 1977, is New York City’s longest-running media arts center. Carol Parkinson, who has directed the organization since its inception, visits Japan to discuss the evolution of NYC’s media and sound art communities—spanning from the 1970s Fluxus movement and the early NYC Max User Group to the present day. The talk will be moderated by sound artist Suzueri, who was in residence at Harvestworks in 2023.

ニューヨーク、ソーホーのメディア・アートセンター「Harvestworks」前エグゼクティブ・ディレクター。1987年より、音響、データ、新興技術を用いた実験的な芸術作品の発展に寄与してきた。現在は同団体の理事を務める傍ら、ニューヨーク・エレクトロニック・アート・フェスティバルのエグゼクティブ・プロデューサーとして活動。37年間、エクゼクティブ・ディレクターとして貢献し、昨年引退、現在は理事会メンバーを務める。伝説的なカセット・マガジン『TELLUS』の創設メンバーでもあり、2026年からはEarth Librariesと共に同誌のアーカイブをLPシリーズとして再リリースするプロジェクトを進行中。ウィスコンシン大学マディソン校、ホイットニー美術館 ISP プログラム修了。
Former Executive Director of Harvestworks, a digital media arts center in SoHo, New York City. Since 1987, she has been instrumental in the development of experimental artworks exploring sound, data, and emerging technologies. After 37 years of dedicated leadership, she transitioned from her role as Executive Director last year and currently serves on the Board of Directors. She is the Executive Producer of the New York Electronic Art Festival and a founding member of the legendary *TELLUS Audio Cassette Magazine*. She is currently leading a project with Earth Libraries to re-release the *TELLUS* archives as a comprehensive LP series starting in 2026. She is an alumna of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program (ISP).

A Tokyo-based sound artist. In 2023, she stayed in New York as a recipient of the Asian Cultural Council (ACC) NYC Fellowship. During her residency, she was supported by the Harvestworks Scholarship Artist program for her production and exhibitions, and participated in the group exhibition “The Process” on Governors Island.
